Gita chaturyugi, in short is ‘Gita in 4 yugas’. Sri Bhagavan, who is lord Krishna, the friend, philosopher and guide, taught the Pandava prince Arjuna in his motivating message that he was just repeating the ancient Gita knowledge as its practice slowly faded out. (Gita Gyan or Jnan). in Krita yuga, the first aeon. The Gita power which is in the form of creative energy, light and heat emitted by the sunrays is very much evident in the entire universe has been continuing age after age.
He explained that the Gita knowledge was first taught to the Sun at the outset of the creation i.e. Kritayuga.
Unlike the present Kaliyugites, Gita knowledge which was the Yoga of Royal Secret (Rajavidya Rajaguhya Yoga) passed on successively to the Solar and Lunar dynasty ( Surya Vamsa) kings of Treta and Dwapara yugas.
Gita was faithfully followed by the kings until the last part of Kaliyuga. But the practice of Gita faded out because of long influx of time. It resulted in unrighteous behavior of Kaurava prince Duryodhana towards Pandavas who were his cousins. As a result, Kurukshetra battle was fought.
In order to remove the misplaced attachment of Arjuna towards his cousins, grandsires and uncles etc., Sri Bhagavan who was the friend, philosopher and guide motivates Arjuna by the teaching of Gita to fight the righteous battle which was the foremost duty prescribed to kings. Finallly Gita involves the Past, Present and Future also.
